The SOL Wrestling community will be proudly represented at the 2026 Division I Wrestling Coaches Association Southeast Region Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, an event recognizing individuals whose lifelong dedication and impact have shaped the sport of wrestling across generations.
The ceremony will take place on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Oxford High School, held prior to the finals of the 2026 Southeast Regional Wrestling Championships. This meaningful celebration brings together athletes, coaches, families, and supporters to honor those whose achievements and leadership have left a lasting mark on wrestling at the local, regional, and national levels.
Among the 2026 inductees is Joey (Joe) Rigous, recognized for his outstanding career as both a wrestler and a coach, and for his decades-long commitment to developing athletes on and off the mat.
A graduate of Neshaminy–Maple Point High School and East Stroudsburg University, Joe Rigous distinguished himself early as a competitor, earning sectional and district titles and serving as a two-year team captain. His collegiate career included success at Bucks County Community College, where he became a two-time NJCAA All-American, before finishing strong at East Stroudsburg University with a high placement at the EIWAs and an undefeated dual-meet record.
Joe also achieved success on the national and international stage, earning accolades in freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling, including junior national and world-level honors. However, his impact extended far beyond competition.
Over more than 40 years, Joe dedicated himself to coaching and mentoring wrestlers at every level, from youth programs to high school and national teams. He served as both an assistant and head coach in District 1, leading programs at William Tennent High School and Central Bucks South, while also contributing to numerous youth and regional wrestling organizations. Through coaching, Joe instilled discipline, resilience, and character in countless athletes.
Joe Rigous will be inducted posthumously. His award will be presented by his wife of 38 years, Trish Rigous, and accepted by their children—Dominic Rigous, Joei Natale, and Megan Wenclewicz.
This induction honors not only a remarkable wrestling career, but a legacy of leadership, mentorship, and service that continues to inspire the wrestling community today
